Oregon State vs. Boise State

Tonight's match-up between the Broncos and the Beavers will be a true test of Boise State's resolve. As many of you know, Boise State Head Coach Dan Hawkins left for Colorado after the bowl season last year, and now the team is under the direction of former offensive coordinator Chris Petersen.

Boise State looked sharp in their home opener against Sacramento State, but a victory over a I-AA opponent isn't anything to bet the farm on (although Dan Hawkins' Colorado probably wishes he could claim such a victory in the first week).

Although there is reason to doubt, I like Boise State's chances in this one, and I will tell you why. The offensive prowess that established Boise State in the first place is still in Idaho. Chris Petersen showed that the offense was not going to struggle this year, by posting 45 points last week.

Boise State is also playing the Beavers at home. This makes a big difference. The legendary "Smurf Turf" of Boise is actually quite intimidating, where the Broncos have a staggering winning percentage.

Boise State also has their veteran quarterback returning in Jared Zabransky. I think that if he can avoid turnovers Boise State will win this game.

The game will be aired tonight at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
