Aside from having one of the most difficult names to spell in the history of idiocy, Gene Wojciechowski once again proved it doesn't take much to write for ESPN. After Notre Dame's one-score loss to No. 6 USC on Saturday, Gene decided to berate the Fighting Irish as if they lost by 30. Rather than noting how the Irish battled the Trojans down to the very last second of the game, he returned to the past to discuss the previous five encounters between the two storied programs. He liked to point out the difficulty the Irish had with the USC passing game, but failed to recognize that USC had an equally difficult time stopping the Irish receiver(s) [and had the Irish been able to start Michael Floyd in this game, they probably would have come away with a 14-point win]. Nor did he recognize Jimmy Clausen's effectiveness on a bum leg, throwing for two touchdowns (the first two allowed by the USC defense) and rushing for a third. The word "Heisman" also doesn't make an appearance in his article. Let's also avoid any reference to the insignificance of the Trojans' win over Ohio State given Saturday's events. Truth be told, Notre Dame and USC seem to be on pretty even footing this year given the performance on the field today and the results of shared opponents (Washington, Purdue/Ohio State). Oh well, Notre Dame Hateraide has always sold well with the ESPN crowd, so I don't expect them to change their bread and butter. Maybe they will at least stop praising the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots sometime in the near future... doubt it though.

2008 Heisman winner Sam Bradford is expected to miss 2-4 weeks of play due to an injury during the loss to BYU on Saturday. During this time, Oklahoma will face Idaho State, Tulsa and Miami. If the injury extends past four weeks, the Sooners will start conference play without their starting quarterback, first against Baylor and then against Texas in a much-anticipated Red River Rivalry game.

Florida's 24-14 win over the Oklahoma Sooners locked up the Gators' third national championship and third Challenge Cup. This marked Urban Meyer's second title in the past three years, and Tim Tebow put himself in a good position to take home CFBN's top player award.
